Comics and Music – Look Out Tomorrow and Listen Out Later This Year
on Wednesday, 27th April, 2011 at 9:16 amJust in case you’ve not got into the rhythm yet, I’ll remind you: there’s a new Gail Scott, Space Pilot out tomorrow. Mentor finishes his story and we learn why Gail and her friends have been recruited.

Also on the comics front, I’ve been looking at how I can get Gail onto Kindle, since that seems to be the way that electronic publishing is going these days. However, the 600×800 pixel screen makes this difficult. It’s just a little too small for a single comic page. The web format Gail Scott pages are 800×1200 pixels and, even then, I have trouble keeping the text sizes small enough not to obscure the images. Technically that means I could put half-pages into a comic format that would fit the Kindle turned sideways but there is another problem. Many people read their Kindle purchases on SmartPhones and these have even less pixels on screen. I tried out a half page on my Android and it was unreadable without a lot of zooming and panning. So, what to do? Go for it with 16-page Kindle comics made of half-page comics, or come up with something else. What about converting the comics into text-stories and heavily illustrating them with panels from the comics? Please comment on this post and help me out with this.
Today, I am changing hats for a while. I’m back to being the lead guitarist in Arbelos and Noel and I are going to sort out the recording schedule for the third album: Stone Owl On The Shore. I’ve already scored a nice organ part for Jenny to play. I hope she likes it, and Noel has some recordings put together for the album already. We hope to get this out on Amazon and iTunes by Christmas.
