Help My Friend

Just as we’re preparing for Christmas and some new treatment for Lucy in the New Year, I am reminded just how lucky we are in the UK to have the NHS. This message arrived today from, Brian Dorbuck,  one of my musical buddies. Fred is a colleague of mine – we recorded a song together a year or two back and have stayed in touch ever since. Here is the message. If you can help, Fred and Inez would be very grateful.

Hi all,

Our good TFK friend Fred Lessing has a dire medical situation in his family. His wife Inez has cancer and needs a specialized procedure that is not covered by insurance. He says, “It has been confirmed today that our health system only offers my wife “whole brain” radiation treatment, which will allow her live for only a few more months, and basically transform her into a vegetable a month after the treatment. The non-covered treatment, however, will extend her life by years.”
