We made it home on Wednesday night, just before the weekend snow dusted the whole country. In Dumfries the snow has been pretty rather than disruptive. Maybe we’ll have a white Christmas…
I’m sitting in the Beatson cafe, reading that our new transport minister is moving into the emergency centre tonight. Lucy is having her chemotherapy now and I’m hoping to get her, Ann and I home tonight before the second big snow hits. More later.

Unusually, Scotland is still receiving fresh snow, more than two weeks into this cold weather. Looks like most of the country’s councils have now run out of road salt and we’re in for a deep freeze this year. Schools haven’t gone back after the Christmas holiday and Dumfries and Galloway’s children can enjoy uninterrupted sledging. Let’s hope the gas supply holds out.
